The JIDU ROBO X showcased at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, arrives with an exceptional 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of under 1.9 seconds. The ROBO X represents a significant departure from JIDU’s previous models, combining advanced autonomous driving capabilities with supercar performance.

Featuring a quad motor liquid-cooled drive system and a lightweight carbon fiber frame, the two-seater supercar weighs just 1,850 kg (around 4,078 lbs) and promises a range of over 650 km (around 404 miles).

JIDU CEO Joe Xia made bold claims about the vehicle’s significance, stating, “For the next 20 years, the design of supercars will bear the shadow of Robo X. This is the best design in the history of Chinese automobiles today.”

The supercar’s striking design draws inspiration from fighter jets, featuring falcon-wing doors and advanced aerodynamic elements. Measuring 4,650 mm in length and 2,000 mm in width, with a height of 1,195 mm, the ROBO X incorporates a professional racing HALO safety system providing 360-degree protection.

What sets the ROBO X apart is its integration of Baidu’s Apollo self-driving technology, making it the first electric supercar to implement pure-vision ADAS technology for track-level autonomous driving. The interior features an AI smart cockpit with SIMO real-time feedback, offering drivers an immersive racing experience.

JIDU, which emerged from a partnership between tech giant Baidu and automotive manufacturer Geely in 2021, has opened pre-orders for the ROBO X at RMB 49,999 ($6,915). However, interested buyers will need to exercise patience, as mass production is not scheduled to begin until 2027.

The announcement comes as JIDU continues to expand its EV lineup. The company also introduced a Passion Edition variant of its JIDU 07 electric sedan, limited to 88 units and priced at RMB 279,900 (around $38,700). Additionally, JIDU unveiled an updated version of its 01 SUV, featuring improved range capabilities of up to 780 km (around 484 miles).

As JIDU is rapidly establishing itself as a significant player in China’s competitive EV market, the offers of a range of EVs from practical daily driving to this latest high-performance supercar signals the company’s progress.
