The move will create more than 80 local jobs and strengthen supply chain logistics ahead of Rivian’s next major product rollout.

A French automotive supplier is the first company confirmed for Rivian’s new supplier park in Normal, Illinois. OPmobility announced it will assemble bumpers for Rivian’s upcoming R2 crossover, which enters production next year with an expected starting price around $45,000.
The move will create more than 80 local jobs and strengthen supply chain logistics ahead of Rivian’s next major product rollout.
OPmobility plans to hire 81 employees in Normal for logistics, assembly, and related roles, with wages at least 20% above the local average, according to a WGLT report. The company said it will make a significant capital investment to support the facility.
In return, OPmobility will benefit from state incentives through the REV Illinois program, designed to encourage clean energy and EV manufacturing growth. Rivian has already secured substantial incentives under the same program to support its R2 project.

Rivian unveiled its 1.2 million–square-foot supplier park in May, describing it as a key step toward scaling future production. CEO RJ Scaringe said the park will help streamline material supply for the R2, as well as ongoing R1 and commercial van builds starting in 2026.
Illinois officials framed the investment as part of a broader EV ecosystem that attracts international suppliers and strengthens the state’s manufacturing base. OPmobility, with 26 plants and nine R&D centers across North America, said its new facility highlights its long-term commitment to the United States auto market.
