Rivian Automotive planned to expand its Texas presence with a new vehicle service and sales center in Round Rock, according to state filings. The proposed facility would mark Rivian’s latest investment in the Austin-area market as the electric vehicle maker continued building out its retail and service infrastructure beyond its existing locations.

A new Round Rock service and sales center

According to documents filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on January 13, Rivian Automotive planned to construct a 46,000-square-foot service and sales facility at 140 Crossroads Drive in Round Rock, north of Austin. The project carried an estimated cost of $9.5 million, with construction scheduled to begin in March and conclude in March 2027. The filings were listed as preliminary and subject to change.

The proposed site sat on a 4.6-acre undeveloped parcel owned by entities connected to CSW Development LLC. The property was being marketed for sale by Jones Lang LaSalle, though no deed transfers had appeared in Williamson County records as of mid-January, according to the Austin Business Journal. Representatives from Rivian, CSW Development, and JLL did not respond to requests for comment.

Rivian’s Austin-area expansion

Rivian entered the Austin market in 2022 with a 24,000-square-foot service and delivery center in North Austin near the Crestview neighborhood. In 2023, the company announced plans for its first Texas retail store, which later opened as a 10,000-square-foot showroom on South Congress Avenue near Yeti Holdings’ flagship store.

The automaker also raised its local profile through high-visibility marketing efforts. During South by Southwest in 2025, Rivian served as a top sponsor, converting a surface parking lot along Congress Avenue into an off-road driving experience for festival attendees. The company also temporarily rebranded Brush Square as Rivian Park, hosting live music events during the festival.

As of 2025, Rivian reported operating more than 60 service centers across the United States. The proposed Round Rock facility would further strengthen its service and retail network in one of the country’s fastest-growing EV markets.
