Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe will take the stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 to discuss the company’s long-term strategy, which extends beyond electric vehicles into artificial intelligence, robotics, manufacturing, and autonomous driving.
The session will explore how Rivian is bringing these technologies together as it works to expand its business over the coming years.
Scaringe’s appearance is scheduled as part of TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, which will be held Oct. 13-15 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.
According to TechCrunch, Rivian’s strategy now spans several fast-growing technologies. In addition to growing its electric vehicle lineup, the company is working toward Level 4 autonomous driving by 2028 while continuing to expand its proprietary charging network across the United States.
Scaringe is also executive chair and acting CEO of Mind Robotics, a humanoid robotics company that has raised $900 million this year. Rivian is both a shareholder and a launch customer for the company.
The robotics initiative is intended to support manufacturing by deploying humanoid robots alongside workers at Rivian’s factory in Normal, Illinois, as the company looks to address future labor shortages.

Scaringe is expected to discuss how Rivian’s newest vehicle, the R2, fits into the company’s broader strategy.
The midsize electric SUV is designed to help Rivian reach a wider customer base than its higher-priced R1T pickup and R1S SUV. Scaringe has previously described the R2 as “maybe the most important thing we’ve launched to date.”
During the session, he is also expected to share lessons from building a manufacturing-focused technology company and explain how Rivian is integrating artificial intelligence into its products and operations while continuing to scale production.
