Tesla’s FSD v12.4 Software May Launch Sometime Next Week With Its V12.5 Software Launching In Late June

Tesla’s ambitious ventures into autonomous driving technology with its Full-Self Driving (FSD) feature for its electric vehicles (EVs) have revealed from data analysis that only 2% of users opted to purchase the program after a free month trial, according to credit card data analysis.
The FSD trial offered for North American Tesla owners had different price cuts where its monthly subscription was cut down from $199 a month to $99 a month. In addition, the FSD program also cut down its price by $4,000, which was initially priced at $12,000 to now at $8,000.
All of this was an effort to bolster FSD adoption rates. Yet, YipitData’s analysis revealed that out of nearly 3,500 trial participants, only around 50 opted to purchase or subscribe to the FSD program. As a result, it shows that only around 2% of the Tesla owners who used FSD in the free month trial ended up purchasing it after.
Concerns about Tesla’s FSD program come with skepticism as the FSD v12.3 software was stated to have major leaps forward to resembling human-like driving capabilities, but is still only classified as Level 2 on the SAE chart with the driver still requiring attention to the wheel.

As a response, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has voiced toward these reports through his X account with skepticism himself on the data analysis stating, “I don’t comment on everything, as sometimes I don’t see it and commenting on everything makes it easy to fish for information. The take rate is much higher than 2%. Please.”

Furthermore, Musk has further that it will soon roll out its FSD v12.4 software and hints of progress with the v12.5 and v12.6 software stating, “12.4 has almost completely retrained models. The final touches are for comfort, as it sometimes accelerates or brakes too fast for most people’s taste. 12.5 and 12.6 are in various stages of testing. We’re getting into rare, complex situations, for example: going down a narrow, one-way road, encountering a road closure and having to reverse out to find a new route.” As a result, the progress of Tesla’s FSD program software updates is being tested as we speak.

Moreover, Musk also stated that the v12.4 software will have around “5X to 10X improvement in miles per intervention vs 12.3,” and that the v12.5 software will be arriving sometime in late June. With this in mind, Tesla’s efforts to update and progress its FSD program are in constant efforts, and such advancements, if realized, could propel Tesla’s self-driving aspirations to new heights.
With Tesla’s FSD program playing a large on its future with the upcoming robotaxi and its potential launch in the Chinese market, the company is heading towards a journey that is filled with rough roads as data analysis shows a lack of purchases. Nonetheless, Tesla’s efforts to improve its FSD program while enhancing it to captivate the EV market are certainly noted.
