Nissan’s Commitment To Formula E Reinforces Its Ambition 2030 Plan

Nissan has reaffirmed its commitment to Formula E, the all-electric international motorsports series for electric vehicles (EVs), by becoming the first manufacturer to commit to the upcoming GEN4 era of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship until at least 2030. This decision underscores Nissan’s plan to advance electric racing technology and aligns seamlessly with its Ambition 2030 EV plans.
The announcement was made during a press conference held in Tokyo, just ahead of the historic first-ever Formula E race in Japan. Nissan’s Formula E Team Managing Director and Team Principal, Tommaso Volpe, alongside FIA Senior Circuit Sports Director Marek Nawarecki and Formula E Chief Executive Officer Jeff Dodds, signed the official registration document, setting Nissan’s participation in Formula E for the upcoming seasons.

GEN4 technology promises to usher in a new era of electric racing prowess, featuring enhanced energy efficiency with a regeneration capacity of up to 700kW and an increased power output of up to 600kW. These advancements, coupled with safety innovations, convey a substantial leap forward in EV racing technology.
Nissan’s plans of testing its advancement of EV technology in Formula E will prove more innovation in its EV plans, where managing director of Nissan Formula E Team Tommaso Volpe stated, “If you want to promote your expertise in electrification using motorsport, there is no better place than Formula E.”
He continues to state, “Formula E is an incredible testing ground for new electric technology, and we can’t wait to continue to develop and compete until at least the end of Season 16.”

The recent relocation of the Nissan Formula E Team headquarters to the Paris area emphasizes Nissan’s commitment to fostering growth and innovation within Formula E.
