Firefly, Nio’s premium compact electric vehicle brand, has unveiled the Halo series, a new design-focused product family that will expand the brand beyond its current single-model lineup.

The first Halo model will make its official debut on July 20, with display vehicles arriving at Firefly stores across China the same day.

Halo marks a new design direction for Firefly

Firefly introduced the Halo series through a series of teaser images highlighting the upcoming vehicle’s exterior finish, illuminated logo, and distinctive wheel design.

The company said Halo is its first product line built around a design-driven philosophy, with the goal of translating elements of modern urban life into a unique automotive design language, according to CNEV Post.

The first Halo model will be officially revealed during an event at the Shanghai Botanical Garden on July 20, where Firefly plans to showcase the inspiration behind the vehicle’s colors, materials, and styling.

As part of the launch, display vehicles will begin arriving at Firefly retail stores across China, allowing customers to view the new model in person.

Firefly also introduced its 2026 “Light of the Year,” known as Inner Glow, a blue-green color inspired by the soft luminescence of the blue ghost firefly found in deep forests. According to the company, the concept serves as the design foundation for the first Halo vehicle.

Expansion comes as Firefly builds momentum

The Halo series represents an important milestone for Firefly as it prepares to expand from a single-model lineup into a broader product portfolio.

The brand currently sells one compact electric vehicle, which serves as the most affordable model in Nio’s lineup. The vehicle starts at 119,800 yuan (about $17,690) for outright purchase, while buyers who choose Nio’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program can lower the starting price to 79,800 yuan.

Firefly began customer deliveries in April 2025 and recently surpassed 70,000 cumulative deliveries.

The brand delivered 6,946 vehicles in June, its second-highest monthly total to date and a 76.7% increase from a year earlier. During the first half of 2026, Firefly delivered 29,172 vehicles, representing year-over-year growth of nearly 272% and accounting for more than 15% of Nio’s total deliveries during the period.

With the Halo series, Firefly is positioning itself for its next phase of growth by broadening its lineup while maintaining its focus on younger buyers and urban mobility.
