Nio’s Firefly EV earns five-star Euro NCAP rating as deliveries surge

Nio’s compact sub-brand Firefly has secured a five-star rating in its EV’s latest Euro NCAP crash tests. The Firefly’s recent achievement underscores its commitment to global safety benchmarks.

The Firefly EV scored a remarkable 96 percent for occupant protection, the highest among all models evaluated this year. It also scored strong results in pedestrian protection and advanced safety assist systems.

Safety record continues to strengthen

The Euro NCAP recognition comes on the heels of Firefly’s top safety score in China’s C-IASI evaluation just weeks earlier, where it achieved the best marks across all categories.

Executives noted that compact EVs face unique challenges in crash safety, given limited crumple zones. By focusing on advanced materials and clever engineering, Firefly was able to deliver a car that blends affordability with class-leading protection.

Deliveries and global expansion on track

Firefly delivered 4,346 vehicles in August, marking an 83.69 percent jump from July and bringing cumulative sales to 14,555 units. The brand began European deliveries in Norway and the Netherlands on August 14, extending its footprint beyond China.

Firefly’s parent company, Nio, also set a new company-wide record with 31,305 vehicles delivered in August. Nio’s sales demonstrate strong momentum across its lineup as Firefly looks to compete with Mini and Smart in the compact EV space.
