Mercedes-Benz has overhauled its flagship EQS, delivering a class-leading 926 km WLTP range that now surpasses key rivals from BMW and Volvo.
The updated luxury EV introduces major hardware and software changes, including a larger battery, 800-volt architecture, and new efficiency-focused engineering, as the automaker aims to reposition the EQS after earlier criticism over design and sales performance.
The refreshed Mercedes-Benz EQS now delivers up to 926 kilometers of range on a full charge, overtaking competitors such as the BMW i3 at 904 km and the Volvo EX60 at 810 km.
To achieve this, Mercedes increased battery capacity from 118 kWh to 122 kWh while introducing updated battery chemistry and more compact, efficient electric motors. A new two-speed gearbox on the rear axle further improves high-speed efficiency, helping extend real-world range, according to CarUp.
The shift to an 800-volt electrical system also marks a major upgrade, enabling rapid charging of up to 320 kilometers in just 10 minutes when connected to a 350 kW fast charger. Combined, these changes represent one of the most comprehensive technical revisions in the EQS lifecycle so far.

Beyond performance, Mercedes is introducing a suite of futuristic features aimed at elevating the driving experience. A new steer-by-wire system is paired with an optional yoke-style steering wheel, designed to improve forward visibility of the large Hyperscreen display while filtering out road vibrations.
One of the most notable additions is a cloud-connected suspension system. Using real-time data shared between vehicles, the EQS can pre-adjust its dampers for road imperfections like potholes or speed bumps before the car even encounters them.
Visually, the EQS retains its ultra-aerodynamic silhouette with a drag coefficient of 0.20, but gains updated headlights capable of illuminating up to six football fields ahead, along with revised front and rear lighting elements.
Despite earlier criticism of its design, Mercedes-Benz is positioning the updated EQS as its most advanced and desirable electric vehicle to date. Pricing in Germany starts at €94,403, as the company looks to reignite demand in the premium EV segment.
