The new software update enables drivers to operate their vehicles hands-free on compatible divided highways.

Lucid Group will introduce Hands-Free Drive Assist and Hands-Free Lane Change Assist to its DreamDrive Pro system later this month. The new features will roll out via an over-the-air (OTA) update starting July 30 for Lucid Air owners, with Lucid Gravity models to follow later this year.
The new software update enables drivers to operate their vehicles hands-free on compatible divided highways and initiate lane changes by activating the turn signal. These capabilities represent a key milestone in Lucid’s autonomous driving roadmap, as it leverages the DreamDrive Pro hardware’s 32-sensor suite and in-house software stack, the automaker stated in a press release.
DreamDrive Pro combines LiDAR, radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors to support its growing list of ADAS features. Lucid says the update underscores its commitment to regular OTA improvements and paves the way for expanded functionality in future updates.
Kai Stepper, Lucid’s Vice President of ADAS and Autonomous Driving, shared a comment about Lucid’s autonomous driving aspirations.
“With our in-house software stack, a comprehensive suite of 32 sensors, and regular OTA updates, we have a roadmap to continue to deliver significantly more functionality to our owners in the future,” he said.
DreamDrive Pro remains an optional upgrade for Lucid vehicles and is central to the company’s broader strategy to build scalable, software-defined EVs with increasing autonomous capability.
