Lucid Launches UX 2.4 Update: Improved Driver Assistance and User Interface

Lucid’s UX 2.4 Update Adds Advanced Driver Assistance, 3D Lane Visualization, A Custom Voice Assistant, And Improved Apple CarPlay To The Lucid Air

Lucid has launched a major over-the-air (OTA) software update for its Lucid Air electric vehicle (EV). The update, dubbed Lucid UX 2.4, introduces many new features and improvements, focusing on enhanced driver assistance capabilities and an improved user interface.

According to Lucid, the optional Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), DreamDrive Pro, receives several notable upgrades including:

  • 3D Three-Lane Visualization: A new feature that provides drivers with a more comprehensive view of their surroundings on highways through a 3D visualization on the center screen.
  • Highway Assist: Now utilizing high-definition maps, this feature offers improved information on HOV lanes, exits, lane merges, and splits. It can also be engaged on curves, providing more adaptive driving.
  • Driver-Initiated Lane Change Assist: Drivers can now initiate lane changes by simply holding the turn signal.
  • Extended Stop and Go: In heavy traffic, the vehicle will resume travel after longer stops if the driver remains attentive.

In addition, the Adaptive Cruise Control system now includes automatic curve speed control for easier navigation on winding roads. With these new enhancements, Lucid’s DreamDrive Pro is reaching a new level of driving assistance for its EV owners.

New Voice Assistant and Apple CarPlay

Lucid has introduced its own voice assistant, replacing Amazon’s Alexa. Users can activate it by saying “Hey Lucid” or pressing the microphone button on the steering wheel. This hands-free system allows control over various vehicle functions, including navigation, audio, climate control, and heated seats.

Moreover, the update also improves Apple CarPlay integration, now displaying turn-by-turn instructions in the center instrument cluster when using Apple Maps for navigation.

User-Requested Features

When it comes to features that Lucid owners have experienced, the feedbacks they have for Lucid has been made for further improvement in their Lucid EVs. Responding to owner feedback, Lucid has implemented several requested features:

  • Automatic closing of Park Distance Warning, Surround View Monitoring, and Rear View Monitoring screens when the vehicle exceeds 6 mph.
  • Display of HomeLink universal device controls while in reverse.
  • Improved Lucid Mobile App with faster connectivity, better responsiveness, and the ability to update user profile attributes within the app.

The Lucid UX 2.4 update has rolled out in North America as an over-the-air (OTA) update. Owners will receive notifications both in EV vehicle and through the Lucid mobile app when the update is available. They can choose to install immediately or schedule the update for a convenient time.

Dr. Jean-Philippe Gauthier, Lucid’s Head of Software Engineering, expressed enthusiasm for this update stating, “This release also marks the transition of DreamDrive Pro Highway Assist features to our in-house Lucid software stack, paving the way for further continuous improvements.”
