Lucid Motors has joined the Minerals for National Automotive Competitiveness Collaboration (MINAC), a new initiative partnering with four U.S.-based mineral producers to reinforce domestic sourcing of critical materials.

The program aims to reduce reliance on foreign imports by creating stronger ties between American EV manufacturers and domestic suppliers of key battery materials such as nickel, manganese, graphite, and recycled metals.

Lucid teams up with U.S. suppliers to boost EV material sourcing

The MINAC initiative connects Lucid with Alaska Energy Metals, Electric Metals USA, Graphite One, and RecycLiCo to help accelerate the development of domestic critical mineral resources, according to a press release. The program is designed to qualify U.S.-sourced materials for EV battery and component production, with an emphasis on sustainability, traceability, and regulatory alignment.

Lucid and its partners will officially launch MINAC during a roundtable event in Washington, D.C., which will also be attended by government leaders including Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Sen. Dan Sullivan (AK), and Reps. Nick Begich (AK) and Andy Biggs (AZ). Executives from Lucid and the other companies involved in the initiative will also be present at the event.

Lucid’s interim CEO Marc Winterhoff stated that increasing access to U.S.-based materials is vital to long-term manufacturing resilience.

“Domestic supply chains strengthen manufacturing resilience, fortify sustainable supply chains, and accelerate job growth. Following in the footsteps of our previous agreements, today we are doubling down on our commitment to powering American innovation and look forward to working with our partners as we built the next generation of automotive manufacturing in the United States,” he said.
