Lucid Motors doubled its electric vehicle production in 2025, signaling a recovery after early manufacturing and quality issues tied to its Gravity SUV rollout. The luxury EV maker said stronger output and deliveries in the second half of the year helped stabilize operations, setting the stage for a pivotal 2026 as it prepares to enter a more competitive, lower-priced segment.
Lucid said it built 18,378 electric vehicles in 2025, roughly double the output from the prior year. A significant portion of that volume came late in the year, with 8,412 vehicles produced in the fourth quarter alone, more than the company manufactured during the entire first half of 2025 at its Casa Grande, Arizona plant.
Deliveries also improved, totaling 15,841 vehicles for the year, a 55% increase compared with 2024. The rebound followed a challenging start to 2025, when Lucid struggled to scale production of the Lucid Gravity. Early builds were hampered by supply-chain constraints and software-related quality issues that slowed customer handovers and weighed on brand momentum.
While the Gravity remains central to Lucid’s product lineup, the company acknowledged that lingering software problems affected customer satisfaction. Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff addressed those concerns directly in a December email to customers, saying the company shared their frustration and was focused on resolving outstanding issues.

Despite the year-over-year gains, Lucid’s 2025 results still fall far short of the aggressive targets it outlined when it went public in 2021. At the time, the company projected 135,000 deliveries in 2025, including tens of thousands of Gravity SUVs and Air sedans, figures that proved unattainable amid pandemic-era disruptions, softer demand, and production challenges.
Looking ahead, Lucid is positioning 2026 as a turning point. The company plans to begin building the first vehicle on its new mid-sized EV platform, with pricing expected to be around $50,000. That would place Lucid squarely against high-volume models like the Tesla Model Y and Rivian R2, marking a strategic shift away from its ultra-luxury niche.
For Lucid, sustained execution on production quality and cost control will be critical as it attempts to scale beyond premium sedans and SUVs. The improved finish to 2025 suggests progress, but the next phase will test whether the automaker can compete in the crowded, price-sensitive heart of the EV market.
