Lucid Motors has unveiled plans to integrate NVIDIA’s next-generation DRIVE AGX Thor platform into its future midsize lineup, with the goal of delivering one of the world’s first consumer-owned Level 4 autonomous vehicles.

The partnership also extends into AI-driven manufacturing, leveraging NVIDIA’s Industrial platform to accelerate production and lower costs through digital twins and intelligent robotics.

Next-gen Lucid vehicles to feature NVIDIA’s full-stack AI architecture

Lucid’s roadmap to autonomy begins with advanced driver assistance in the upcoming Lucid Gravity and future midsize models, offering “eyes-on” point-to-point driving (L2++). The company then aims to transition to “eyes-off, hands-off, mind-off” (L4) autonomy, powered by NVIDIA’s centralized architecture and safety-assessed DriveOS operating system.

Two DRIVE AGX Thor computers will serve as the neural core of Lucid’s future lineup, processing input from cameras, radar, and lidar sensors for real-time decision-making, according to a press release. Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff said the collaboration combines Lucid’s EV engineering expertise with NVIDIA’s AI leadership to deliver “the smartest and safest autonomous vehicles on the road.” NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang added that vehicles are evolving into “software-defined supercomputers on wheels,” and this partnership will help reimagine mobility through AI.

AI-powered manufacturing promises smarter, faster production

Beyond the vehicle, Lucid is transforming its operations through NVIDIA’s Industrial AI platform. The system uses predictive analytics and digital twins to optimize manufacturing efficiency, enhance quality control, and enable reconfigurable production lines. By modeling robotic workflows in virtual environments, Lucid expects to reduce costs, improve safety, and shorten production timelines.

The integration of NVIDIA Omniverse allows teams to collaboratively simulate factory layouts and autonomous systems before physical deployment, ushering in what Lucid calls a new era of software-driven manufacturing. The result could be a seamless pipeline from virtual design to real-world production, enhancing both agility and scalability as Lucid expands its EV portfolio.
