Kia EV6 Gets Sleek Makeover And Boosted Range With Starting Price At £45,575 In UK

Kia has introduced an updated version of its popular EV6 electric vehicle (EV) for the United Kingdom (UK) market with a sleek design makeover, improved range, and enhanced performance as its pricing and specs have been publicly revealed.

According to Kia, the most noticeable changes to the EV6 are in its exterior design. The front end now contains Kia’s new daytime running lights and signature Star Map lighting, giving the EV a more modern and distinctive appearance. The rear bumper has been touched up for a sportier look, and new wheel designs are available. The GT-Line trim takes the dynamic styling further with more aggressive front and rear bumpers and an LED lighting bar.

For the interior, Kia has revamped the cabin with added ambient lighting, a redesigned steering wheel, and an updated wireless charging pad. Each trim level features different upholstery, with the GT-Line boasting a black and off-white color scheme.

The stand-out upgrade is the EV6’s new battery pack. The EV6 now comes equipped with Kia’s fourth-generation batteries, offering up to 84 kWh capacity, an increase from the previous 77.4 kWh. This improvement translates to an estimated WLTP range of up to 582 km (361 miles) for rear-wheel drive (RWD) models.

Charging capabilities have also been enhanced, with the EV6 supporting up to 258 kW peak charging. This allows for rapid charging from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes or gaining up to 343 km (213 miles) of range in a mere 15 minutes.

The new EV6 maintains its three-grade lineup in the UK: Air, GT-Line, and GT-Line S. Prices start at £45,575 (around $59,684) for the entry-level Air trim, £48,575 (around $63,608) for the GT-Line, and £53,675 (around $70,287) for the GT-Line S, all with RWD. All-wheel drive (AWD) options are available for the GT-Line and GT-Line S trims at £52,075 (around $68,192) and £57,175 (around $74,872), respectively.

Performance-wise, the RWD models produce 225 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, achieving 0 to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds with a top speed of 115 mph. The AWD variants bump the power up to 320 bhp and 605 Nm of torque, reducing the 0 to 62 mph time to 5.3 seconds and slightly increasing the top speed to 116 mph.

Notably, the updated EV6 is part of Kia’s ‘Plan S’ strategy, which aims to launch 15 EVs by 2027, with nine of these models destined for the UK market. As a result, Kia’s efforts on achieving the goal of this plan is focused on for reaching new heights in the EV landscape.

With its combination of striking design, improved range, and refreshed features, the new Kia EV6 looks set to build progress on its potential success in the UK market. Orders for the new EV6 opened on September 2, 2024, with deliveries expected to start in Q3 2024.
