The 2025 Kia Ray EV Arrives With Three Trims Including The 4-Seater Light, the 2-Seater Light, And The 1-Seater Light

In a move set to shake up the electric vehicle (EV) market, Kia has officially launched the 2025 Ray EV in South Korea. This latest iteration of the popular minicar retains its attractive starting price while introducing enhanced features, making it an even more compelling option for budget-conscious EV buyers.
According to Kia, the 2025 Kia Ray EV continues to offer an affordable entry into the South Korean EV market. Pricing for the new model remains competitive, with the 4-seater Light trim priced at 27.75 million won (around $21,000), the 2-seater Light trim at 27.45 million won ($20,700), and the 1-seater Light trim at 27.35 million won ($20,500). With government incentives, buyers can purchase the Ray EV for as low as $15,000 (20 million won), making it one of the most accessible EVs available.

Notably, the 2025 Ray EV comes with enhanced features across all trims. The Drive Wise II package is now standard, equipping all models with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like safe exit warnings and blind-spot collision avoidance assist. The new Style package, also included in all trims, adds projection headlights and LED rear combination lamps, boosting both safety and style.

Performance-wise, the Ray EV remains well-suited for urban environments. It offers a driving range of up to 127 miles (205 km) on a single charge, which extends to 145 miles (233 km) in city conditions. Its 35.2 kWh battery can reach 80% charge in just 40 minutes using a 100 kW fast charger, offering both practicality and convenience for city driving.
The Ray EV’s market success reflects its strong appeal. In just one month after pre-orders began in last August, over 6,000 reservations were made. By the first eight months of 2024, the Ray EV had sold 8,500 units, making it the third best-selling EV in Korea, following the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai IONIQ 5. Kia officials describe the new Ray as “the best choice for customers waiting for an entry-level minicar,” highlighting its importance in Kia’s growing EV lineup.

For added versatility, the 2025 Ray EV offers various configurations, including 1-seater, 2-seater, and 4-seater options, catering to a range of needs. Whether used for logistics, mobile stores, or leisure activities, the Ray EV adapts easily. Additionally, aftermarket products like camping gear and pet-friendly accessories make customization simple and practical.
Kia has made many notable growth in its EV lineup on global markets. Other than its home market territory, its current EV lineup in the United States (U.S.) market has made major strides in Q3 2024. With a strong 43% increase in sales compared to September of the previous year, Kia’s star performer was the EV9 model, which sold 2,096 units in September alone. As of now, it is not clarified if the 2025 Ray EV will make its way to the U.S. market.
With the Ray EV making its debut launch in the South Korean market, its combination of affordability, enhanced features, and versatility, is set to strengthen Kia’s position in the EV market while expected to contribute to accelerating EV sales into 2025 and beyond.
