Hyundai Casper Electric Arrives With New Trim And 42 kWh NCM Battery Developed With LG Energy Solution

Hyundai has launched its new Casper model, alongside an exciting new trim for the electric vehicle (EV) version, strengthening the company’s position in the EV market.

According to Hyundai, the refreshed Casper Electric builds on its predecessor’s well-known design, now featuring a more sophisticated and rugged appearance. The updated model introduces newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and redesigned rear lamps, while improvements to the radiator grille and wheel designs enhance aerodynamic efficiency.
In addition, Hyundai has focused on reducing noise and vibration within the engine compartment, resulting in a quieter and more refined driving experience. These enhancements further solidify the Casper’s appeal as an entry-level mini SUV.

Hyundai will also introduce a new base model trim for the Casper Electric, which first launched in July. The new version is priced competitively, starting at just $20,000 (27.4 million won) after tax benefits, and with government and local subsidies, the price could drop as low as $7,300 (10 million won).
Moreover, it is powered by a 42 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery developed in collaboration with LG Energy Solution, offering a driving range of up to 173 miles (278 km) on a single charge.

The Casper Electric has made a significant impact on the Korean market since its introduction. Within the first two weeks of its launch, it secured 8,000 orders. In its first full sales month in August, it became Hyundai’s top-selling EV in Korea.
By September, the Casper Electric had sold 2,075 units, making it the best-selling EV in the country. Hyundai attributes this success to the vehicle’s strong driving range and competitive pricing, which have resonated with consumers.

In Europe, the Casper Electric is sold under the name Inster EV. It offers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 355 km (221 miles) and a starting price below 25,000 euros ($27,000).
Hyundai has also introduced the Inster EV Cross, a more rugged variant aimed at those seeking “mini-adventures.” The Cross version delivers a slightly longer driving range of up to 360 km (223 miles), providing versatility for urban and off-road driving.
The introduction of the new Casper Electric Premium trim significantly lowers the entry point for EV ownership. With subsidies potentially bringing the price down to around $7,300, it represents one of the most affordable EVs on the market.
As governments worldwide push for increased EV adoption, Hyundai’s strategy of offering affordable, stylish, and practical electric options positions the company well for future growth in this rapidly evolving market.
