Hyundai is preparing to launch the IONIQ 3 at the Munich Motor Show this September. The Hyundai IONIQ 3 is a more affordable electric vehicle offering up to 365 miles of range.
The new Hyundai EV will be positioned between the all-electric Inster and Kona cars. The IONIQ 3 will debut on the Korean automaker’s newest EV platform with advanced connected technology. Hyundai IONIQ 3 production is set to begin in early 2025, with the model aimed at boosting the company’s share of the mainstream EV market.
The Hyundai IONIQ 3 will be available in front-wheel-drive configuration with two battery options. The first battery option is a 58.3kWh pack, delivering approximately 260 miles of range, and the second is an 81.4kWh pack capable of 365 miles under WLTP testing.
The IONIQ 3 can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under 8 seconds. It is built on a 400V system for cost savings, similar to the Kia EV3. Hyundai is leaning heavily into software-defined features with the IONIQ 3. The new Hyundai EV runs the new Pleos operating system, offering downloadable upgrades, customizable interfaces, and Apple CarPlay Ultra compatibility.

Hyundai executives view the IONIQ 3 as crucial to capturing market share in the more affordable EV segment. European chief Xavier Martinet noted that the IONIQ lineup is now the second most recognized EV brand after Tesla, with higher sales prices than in past years.
The IONIQ 3 will be produced in Turkey, strengthening Hyundai’s European manufacturing base while targeting a wider buyer pool. According to Top Gear, Martinet emphasized that Hyundai will continue to sell across all powertrains but expects EV adoption to steadily rise. He noted that drivers rarely return to combustion engines once they switch.
