Hyundai is set to make waves in the United Kingdom market with its latest electric vehicle (EV), the INSTER. This sub-compact A-segment electric SUV will embark on an extensive national roadshow, visiting 86 Hyundai retailers across the country in October and December.

As the INSTER embarks on this tour covering the UK from Inverness to Taunton and Aberystwyth to Norwich while marking the first opportunity for British buyers to experience the highly anticipated EV in person before its official launch later this year, the EV made its global debut at the Busan International Mobility Show in South Korea.

Positioned between traditional A-segment city cars and larger B-segment models, the INSTER is designed with both style and functionality in mind. Drawing inspiration from the gas-powered CASPER model, its characterful exterior features bold wheel arches, distinctive LED lighting, and an elevated ride height.

Moreover, the interior offers a sleek cockpit equipped with advanced technology including a 10.25″ digital cluster, a 10.25″ infotainment touchscreen, and a wireless charging dock in the center console.

Furthermore, all seats can be folded flat to maximize cargo capacity, while the second-row seats feature a 50/50 split and can slide, offering flexible configurations to suit various needs. This adaptability makes the INSTER an ideal choice for both city dwellers and suburban families alike.

Hyundai is offering two battery options for the INSTER: a 42kWh and a Long Range 49kWh version. These are paired with an electric motor delivering either 71.1kW (97 horsepower) or 84.5kW (115 horsepower). The Long Range model delivers an estimated WLTP-rated driving range of up to 220 miles on a single charge when equipped with 15″ wheels.

Safety and driver assistance features are abundant in the INSTER, with advanced systems such as Surround View Monitor, Blind-spot View Monitor, and Intelligent Speed Assist ensuring a comfortable and secure driving experience in various environments.

Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, expressed enthusiasm about the INSTER’s debut in the UK stating, “The INSTER will be the most compact member of the Hyundai electric vehicle family, and proves that good things really do come in small packages. Its exceptional capabilities and advanced equipment will challenge expectations of what a small EV can deliver.”

Building on Hyundai’s recent successes in the EV sector, including World Car of the Year wins for both the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, the INSTER is expected to further solidify the brand’s position as a leader in the EV market. Order books for the INSTER are set to open later this year and the first deliveries are scheduled for January 2025.
