Hyundai’s New Alliance Partnering With Local CPOs Will Boost Access To Over 600 Charging Stations

Hyundai has announced a substantial expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Indonesia, partnering with several local charging point operators (CPOs) to install 400 new EV chargers across the country.
Revealed at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024, Hyundai signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with established CPOs including Casion, Voltron, Daya Green, Utomo Charge+, and Buzz. This alliance, dubbed the Hyundai EV Charging Alliance, will provide Hyundai EV buyers access to around 97% of private charging stations in Indonesia, totaling more than 600 charging stations nationwide.
Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia, expressed the company’s goal to support EV adoption in Indonesia stating, “We are pleased to collaborate with more CPO partners to bring renewable mobility closer to consumers at large. This strategic step also emphasizes Hyundai’s position as a game changer in the automotive industry that consistently innovates in accelerating vehicle electrification in Indonesia.”
In addition to expanding its charging network, Hyundai has introduced a new complimentary charging program for its EV buyers in Indonesia. The “EV Charging Service Program” offers new Hyundai EV buyers up to 50 kWh of free charging per month for one year at alliance member charging stations.

As of now, Hyundai offers several EV models in Indonesia including the KONA Electric, IONIQ 5, and IONIQ 6. The company has also launched the second-generation KONA Electric as Indonesia’s first EV featuring locally produced batteries with over 60% localization.

Furthermore, Indonesia has become the first international market where Hyundai locally assembles the high-performance IONIQ 5 N model. Interestingly, the company is even considering exporting this model to other ASEAN nations and countries in the Middle East and Africa.
Hyundai’s investment in Indonesia’s EV infrastructure aligns with the country’s potential in the EV market, given its position as the world’s largest holder of nickel reserves, a critical component in EV batteries.
With the expansion of Hyundai’s charging network and the introduction of the EV Charging Service Program, Hyundai is positioning itself as a game-changer in the country’s rapidly evolving automotive landscape with EVs.
