From Being Named Best Electric 5-Passenger SUV By Parents Magazine And A Green Push With The NHL, Honda Prologue Is Gaining Serious Traction

Honda’s Prologue electric vehicle (EV) is making notable strides in the United States (U.S.) market, securing both critical acclaim and commercial success by being named “America’s Best Electric 5-Passenger SUV” for 2025 by Parent’s magazine.

The prestigious recognition comes after an exceptional market performance, with the Prologue establishing itself as the second-best-selling electric SUV in the U.S. during the latter half of 2024. The vehicle’s success reflects Honda’s growing influence in the EV segment, with more than 33,000 units delivered since its launch last March. This positions the Prologue as the seventh most popular EV in America, trailing only established competitors like Tesla’s lineup, Ford’s electric offerings, and the Hyundai IONIQ 5.

Notably, Parents magazine’s expert panel particularly praised the Prologue’s family-friendly features, highlighting its spacious interior, intuitive infotainment system, and comprehensive safety technologies. The vehicle’s practical capabilities are equally remarkable, offering an EPA-estimated range of 296 miles and rapid charging capabilities that can add 65 miles of range in just 10 minutes when using a 150 kW charging station.
Building on this momentum, Honda has announced an extension of its 17-year partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL), with a renewed focus on environmental sustainability. The Prologue will play a central role in this initiative, serving as a symbol of Honda’s goal of “make the game more environmentally responsible.” The partnership includes the launch of a “Skating for Sustainability” video series, designed to educate fans about the NHL’s environmental initiatives.

This collaboration aligns with Honda’s more general environmental goals, which include achieving zero environmental impact by 2050 and transitioning to 100% electric or fuel-cell EV sales by 2040. The Prologue symbolizes just the beginning of this transformation, as Honda prepares to expand its electric lineup with two new “0 Series” models set to begin production in Ohio next year, following their preview at the 2025 CES.
The Prologue’s success is particularly noteworthy for Honda’s electrification strategy, as it has helped drive the company’s electrified vehicle sales to over 25% of its total U.S. sales in 2024. This achievement is even more noteworthy given Honda’s strong commitment to American manufacturing – in 2023, 99% of Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. were manufactured in North America.
To further accelerate adoption, Honda is offering attractive lease terms for the Prologue, with rates starting as low as $209 per month, making it one of the most accessible electric SUVs in the market. This competitive pricing strategy, combined with the vehicle’s strong performance and recognition, positions the Prologue as a compelling option for families looking to transition to electric mobility.
The Prologue’s early success and Honda’s plans for future EVs suggest the company is accelerating the ongoing transformation of the automotive industry, particularly in the family-friendly SUV segment where practicality, safety, and environmental consciousness increasingly influence purchasing decisions.
