Since the discontinuation of the Chevrolet Camaro back in 2024, there have been speculations about the model’s future and now that there are hints about it returning in EV form, we could see it playing a pivotal role in the EV market as an electric pony vehicle. According to MotorTrend, Reuss has stated that the return of the Camaro in EV form could be priced similarly around $35,000 to its 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV, which starts at $34,995 for the base model. With the addition of the federal EV tax credit, the potential price point would be cut down to around $27,500, making the Camaro EV a truly affordable pony vehicle.

Furthermore, Reuss has further stated to continue the legacy of the Camaro model that focuses on affordability and driving experience compared to performance metrics. This means that the Camaro EV will appeal to the larger EV market, retaining a coupe-like appearance. Interstingly, Scott Bell, Vice President of Global Chevrolet, has also hinted at the return of the Camaro in EV form as well according to GM Authority.

It is not clarified as to the potential Camaro EV specifications being public yet, but it is anticipated that it will possess GM’s Ultium platform that is in its Blazer, Equinox, Silverado, GMC Hummer EV, and Cadillac Lyriq EVs. Moreover, details about the potential Camaro EV’s release schedule have not been disclosed yet.
