The Upcoming 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition Will Have the V2H Bidirectional Charging Technology

GM Energy is elevating charging solutions in the electric vehicle (EV) industry for the residential avenue with its Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) technology. Now, if you own a compatible Ultium-based EV, you can power your home with it.

The V2H technology by GM Energy was revealed from the company’s initial product suite, where you can now use bi-directional charging with the electrical energy being flown between a GM EV and a home with the necessary equipment. With this function, you can provide backup power during power outages and get chances to cut energy costs through optimized charging and discharging schedules.

In terms of price, the GM Energy V2H Bundle costs $7,299. This bundle will include a bidirectional charger and inverter, a home hub, and a dark start battery. You will also have the option to buy specific items in the bundle such as the bidirectional charger for $1,699 or a simplified V2H enablement kit for $5,600. In regards to installation, these services will be done through Qmerit for a convenient setup process.

There are a few EV models in the GM lineup that will contain this technology. Specifically, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition is the first trim to have the V2H bidirectional charging technology. In addition, the upcoming GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 along with other GM EV models like the Chevrolet Blazer, Equinox EVs, Cadillac Lyriq, and Escalade IQ will have V2H technology added as well. Also, it is important to note that these V2H bundles are available in select states including California, Florida, Michigan, New York, and Texas.

Notably, you will have access to V2H technology functions with GM’s mobile apps. Furthermore, the company will release additional components like stationary energy storage and solar integration for you to customize your selection for energy solutions.
