Starting At 129,800 Yuan, The GAC Aion V Comes In Two Trims With A 0 To 60 mph Acceleration Time Of 7.9 Seconds

GAC has officially revealed the second-generation Aion V, a competitively priced electric vehicle (EV) SUV built for the Chinese market. The new model has a starting price of 129,800 yuan (around $17,840).

The new Aion V arrives with two single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) options. The base trim produces 150 kW and 240 Nm of torque, while the top-end trim offers 165 kW with the same torque output. Both trims deliver a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 7.9 seconds.
Moreover, GAC offers three battery pack options for the Aion V: 62 kWh, 75 kWh, and 90 kWh. These deliver estimated CLTC-rated ranges of 520 km (323 miles), 650 km (403 miles), and 750 km (466 miles) respectively. The company also claims fast-charging capabilities for the Aion V with the ability to add 370 km (229 miles) of range in just 15 minutes.

As for its exterior, the new Aion V is slightly more compact than its predecessor, measuring 4605 mm in length, 1854 mm (or 1876 mm depending on trim) in width, and 1686 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2775 mm according to GAC. Also, the exterior design features a more squared-off and rugged appearance, with H-shaped headlights and vertical taillamps contributing to its masculine character.

For the interior, the Aion V comes with a modern and minimalist interior with a 14.6-inch landscape touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel. Premium features include power front seats with massage, heating, and ventilation functions, as well as a panoramic sunroof and a center console refrigerator or warmer.

In terms of safety features, GAC Aion V comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems including Navigated Driving Assist (NDA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Remote Parking Assist (RPA). Higher trims feature a LiDAR sensor on the roof, complementing the EV’s array of cameras and radars for improved autonomous driving capabilities.

Notably, GAC Aion has positioned the second-generation Aion V as its first global strategic EV model. The model will be produced both in China and at the company’s newly opened plant in Thailand. Furthermore, the launch has been met with enthusiasm as GAC Aion reported over 10,000 orders within the first hour and 20 minutes of the model’s debut.
As the EV market sees more new models entering the global market, the second-generation Aion V is set to make a strong impact both in China and potentially other markets. With more Chinese EVs impressing the automotive industry, the new GAC Aion V is certainly one of them.
