Ford is set to begin pre-sales of its electric Bronco in China on November 18, marking a major step in the U.S. automaker’s renewed push into the world’s largest EV market. The model, offered in both BEV and EREV configurations, was unveiled globally in August and will finally receive official pricing as Ford accelerates its China comeback strategy.

Ford ramps up its EV rollout with China-led Bronco program

The electric Bronco’s pre-sales launch highlights Ford’s decision to consolidate EV operations in China under a centralized structure. Rather than relying on its traditional joint ventures, the program is being led directly by Ford China, reflecting a more streamlined approach designed to speed up new model launches and strengthen the brand’s local EV presence.

The SUV debuted at the 2025 Chengdu auto show in August before opening reservations on October 1. Ford has not confirmed which of its joint venture partners will ultimately handle production, though Jiangling Group has promoted the vehicle through its own channels, according to CNEV Post. The pre-sales event is expected to answer key questions, including official pricing and variant details, as Ford works to regain competitiveness in a rapidly shifting EV landscape.

New subsidiary and expanded network support broader China strategy

Ford’s comeback effort is being anchored by Ford Sales & Service Co, a wholly owned subsidiary established in Shanghai to manage marketing, sales, and aftersales operations for Ford-branded passenger vehicles. The unified network is meant to accelerate the rollout of new energy vehicles, with the electric Bronco positioned as a flagship entry in the refreshed lineup.

The Bronco itself is sized as a full off-road SUV, measuring 5,025 mm long with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. The EREV variant includes a 1.5L engine used strictly as a range extender, paired with 130 kW and 180 kW dual motors and a 43.7-kWh battery delivering 220 km of CLTC electric range and 1,220 km combined range. The BEV version steps up to a 105.4-kWh pack and dual motors producing up to 202 kW at the rear, offering 650 km of estimated driving range.
