Ford’s NASCAR-Inspired Mustang Mach-E Prototype Is Set To Take On Pikes Peak International Hill Climb With Extreme Power And Racing Tech

Ford has unveiled its latest electric marvel: a NASCAR-inspired Mustang Mach-E prototype that promises to redefine the boundaries of electric vehicle (EV) performance.

The prototype revealed during the Ford Performance Season launch, is a radical transformation of the standard Mach-E electric crossover. Most striking is its dramatic two-door design and aggressive silhouette, which bears little resemblance to the original road-going model. Also, it contains a trio of electric motors housed within a full carbon fiber tub, promising mind-bending performance that could rival or even exceed the 1,400 horsepower of Ford’s previous electric demonstrators like the SuperVan 4.2.
Equipped with a 78 kWh battery and borrowing key components directly from Ford’s current NASCAR Cup Series car—including suspension, brakes, steering, and wheels—this Mach-E is no mere show pony. It is a serious performance machine that blurs the lines between street-legal electric crossover and full-blown race car.

The prototype is set to make its high-profile debut at the 103rd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 22, 2025. Romain Dumas, a legendary driver with an impressive track record, will drive it. Dumas previously set the fastest time up Pikes Peak in 2018 with the Volkswagen ID.R electric race car and has already claimed victory in Ford’s EVs, winning the hill climb in both the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck and the SuperVan.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will be the ultimate proving ground for this extraordinary machine. Racing enthusiasts and EV fans alike will be watching closely to see if Romain Dumas can add another record to his impressive list of achievements.

Furthermore, this Mach-E represents the latest in Ford’s line of electric demonstrators, following successful projects like the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, SuperVan 4.2, and Super Cobra Jet 1800. While there’s no indication that this specific prototype will enter the official racing series, it serves a crucial purpose in pushing the boundaries of EV technology and performance.
The project highlights Ford’s goal to electric innovation and performance. By transforming a family-friendly electric crossover into a tire-shredding, race-inspired machine, Ford challenges preconceptions about EVs. The prototype shows that electric performance can be both exciting and cutting-edge, bridging the gap between everyday transportation and high-performance motorsports.
With new demonstrators like the Mustang Mach-E NASCAR prototype, they not only showcase technological capabilities but also generate excitement and consumer interest in EVs. With each new project, Ford is adding that the future of performance is electric, and it’s anything but boring.
