Ford is recalling 86 Mustang Mach-E electric crossovers from the 2023 through 2025 model years over incorrect Battery Energy Control Module software that can cause the vehicles to display an inaccurate state of charge or potentially lead to battery overheating.
The recall covers vehicles built between July 3, 2023, and August 26, 2025.
The affected Mustang Mach-E vehicles may have received an incorrect Battery Energy Control Module, or BECM, software update during a previous repair.
If the vehicle displays a higher state of charge than the battery actually has, the discrepancy can result in unexpected power limitation and potentially a loss of forward power. Ford says that condition could increase the risk of a crash, according to Ford Authority.
The software issue can also contribute to battery overheating, which increases the risk of a fire. Ford says it is not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires associated with the condition.
The affected vehicles are select 2023-2025 Mustang Mach-E crossovers produced during the specified production period. Ford identifies the BECM software as the component involved in the recall.

Ford dealers will update the Battery Energy Control Module software at no cost to affected owners. Ford began notifying owners about the recall on September 9, 2026.
The recall is identified by Ford reference number 26S68.
Owners who receive a recall notification should follow Ford’s instructions for having the software updated. Ford Customer Service can be reached at 1-866-436-7332, while the NHTSA toll-free number is 1-888-327-4236.
