Ford Mustang Mach-E Drives 30% Surge In EV Sales During Q3 2025

Ford’s electric vehicle sales surged 30% in the third quarter of 2025, totaling 30,612 units across the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit.

The Mach-E led the charge with 20,177 deliveries, a 51% year-over-year gain, while the F-150 Lightning rose 40% to 10,005 units. Despite strong overall growth, the E-Transit plunged 85% to 2,955 units, highlighting Ford’s uneven EV portfolio performance.

Mustang Mach-E dominates as Ford EV sales accelerate

The Mustang Mach-E accounted for two-thirds of Ford’s total EV deliveries this quarter, outselling the F-150 Lightning two-to-one. Compared with Q2 2025, Ford’s EV sales climbed an impressive 86%, while year-to-date results rose 30%. Battery-electric models now represent about 7% of Ford’s total U.S. sales, with hybrids and plug-in hybrids contributing another 11%. Combined, electrified vehicles make up 18% of Ford’s output, according to Ford Authority.

Although Ford’s overall U.S. sales rose 12% in September, its EV division outpaced the broader company’s growth. Still, Ford trails General Motors, which sold 66,501 EVs in Q3, more than double Ford’s total, across a lineup of ten battery-electric models. Ford’s three BEVs, however, continue to perform strongly relative to their smaller portfolio.

Ford prepares next-generation EVs amid industry slowdowns

Despite healthy Q3 gains, Ford CEO Jim Farley expects company-wide EV sales to be cut in half as federal tax credits expire and demand softens. The brand’s EV market share has slipped to 13.5%, well behind Chevy’s 26%. In response, Ford is developing a new universal EV platform, known internally as CE1, that will underpin affordable future models, including a compact pickup launching in 2027.

The automaker has delayed its next full-size electric truck and van to 2028 and scrapped several three-row crossover projects, costing $400 million. Still, Farley insists Ford’s upcoming low-cost EV lineup could reinvigorate demand in the years ahead.
