Ford has launched a dedicated website for its upcoming midsize electric pickup, offering the clearest look yet at a vehicle that is expected to play a major role in the automaker’s next-generation EV strategy.

The new site, discovered after a QR code appeared on a camouflaged prototype, provides additional details about the truck’s development, manufacturing approach, and design as Ford prepares for a reveal expected before 2027.

Ford showcases next-generation EV pickup development

The website, titled “You Spotted a Unicorn,” appeared shortly after the pickup prototype was publicly spotted and serves as a hub for updates on the project. According to Ford, the vehicle will be built on the company’s new Universal EV Platform and will feature manufacturing methods unlike any currently used across its lineup.

Three videos currently accompany the launch. One features Alan Clarke, head of Ford’s advanced vehicle development team, discussing the project and hinting that more information will be released over time, according to Ford Authority. Another highlights the production techniques planned for the pickup, while a third shows the vehicle undergoing winter testing and drifting through snowy conditions.

Ford has already revealed several ambitious targets for the truck. The automaker expects the pickup to provide more interior space than a Toyota RAV4, accelerate faster than a Ford Mustang EcoBoost, and become the company’s first electric vehicle equipped with a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port.

New clues emerge about design and possible branding

The newly released footage also provided fresh hints about the truck’s final design. Interior shots suggest the pickup may use Ford’s familiar 13.2-inch infotainment display, a component already deployed across multiple vehicles in the company’s lineup. The approach could help Ford keep costs under control as it targets a starting price near $30,000.

Additional details seen in the videos suggest the truck may share some components with the Ford Maverick, including interior switchgear and console elements. Observers also noted that the prototype appears similar in overall footprint to the Maverick, though it may sit lower and feature a smaller cargo bed.

The website’s signup page may have also offered a subtle clue about the vehicle’s future branding. A banner stating that “the herd” arrives next year has fueled speculation about the truck’s eventual name. While many observers expect Ford to revive the Ranchero badge, others believe the company could choose another animal-inspired name that aligns with models such as the Maverick and Puma.
