Five total variants are available in China as Ford targets rivals from GWM and BYD.

Ford has opened pre-sales for its all-new electric Bronco in China, setting a starting price of RMB 229,800 ($32,320) as the automaker renews its push in the world’s largest EV market. The model arrives in both EREV and BEV versions, aiming at urban SUV buyers with a unibody design rather than hardcore off-road capability. Five total variants are now available as Ford targets rivals from GWM and BYD.
Ford China is leading development and sales of the electric Bronco, bypassing the brand’s typical Chinese joint-venture channels. The lineup includes three EREV configurations priced at RMB 229,800, RMB 249,800, and RMB 272,800, plus two BEV versions listed at RMB 259,800 and RMB 282,800. All models share a sizeable footprint at 5,025 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,825 mm tall, with a 2,950-mm wheelbase.
The EREV versions use a 1.5-liter turbo engine strictly as a generator, paired with dual-motor all-wheel drive delivering 130 kW up front and 180 kW at the rear. Equipped with a 43.7-kWh battery, they provide 220 km of CLTC electric range and up to 1,220 km in total mixed range, according to a CNEV Post. Meanwhile, BEV variants feature a larger 105.4-kWh pack and dual-motor system outputting up to 202 kW at the rear, enabling a CLTC range of 650 km.

Despite the Bronco’s global off-road reputation, the Chinese-market electric Bronco adopts a unibody structure aimed at city-focused drivers seeking a rugged-styled SUV without the compromises of a body-on-frame chassis. This positions the model differently from key competitors such as the Tank 300 Hi4-T, Tank 400 Hi4-T, and Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5, all of which retain traditional off-road-oriented body-on-frame builds.
Ford’s approach mirrors trends from newer entrants like Fang Cheng Bao’s Tai 3 and Tai 7, which also embrace unibody construction to appeal to mainstream EV buyers. With a broad variant mix and competitive range figures, the Bronco’s launch signals Ford’s intent to reestablish relevance in China’s fast-moving SUV landscape.
