Ferrari officially unveiled its first fully electric vehicle, the Ferrari Luce, marking one of the most significant product launches in the company’s history as the legendary automaker enters the high-performance EV era. The four-door grand tourer combines Ferrari’s traditional focus on emotion and performance with a quad-motor electric drivetrain producing 1,050 horsepower and an expected 280 miles of EPA-rated range.

U.S. deliveries for the Ferrari Luce are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027 with pricing starting at approximately $640,000.

Ferrari blends EV performance with signature emotional driving feel

The Luce features a four-motor all-wheel-drive system powered by a 122 kWh battery pack operating on an 800-volt architecture. Ferrari said the EV can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds while supporting charging speeds of up to 350 kW.

The vehicle measures nearly 198 inches long, placing it close in size to a Tesla Model S while offering four doors and seating for four passengers. Ferrari also emphasized practicality, with the Luce providing 21.1 cubic feet of cargo space, the largest luggage capacity ever offered by the automaker, according to Car and Driver.

Despite transitioning to electric propulsion, Ferrari placed heavy emphasis on maintaining an emotional driving experience. The company developed a system that uses accelerometers to capture real vibrations from the electric motors and rear chassis. Software then filters and enhances specific frequencies to create what Ferrari describes as more “musical” sounds both inside and outside the vehicle.

Drivers can also adjust torque delivery characteristics through steering-wheel-mounted paddle controls that offers five different response levels.

Ferrari leans on technology and design for its EV future

Ferrari said the Luce’s interior was co-designed with former Apple design chief Jony Ive, helping shape a cabin that blends luxury materials with advanced digital interfaces and OLED displays throughout the cockpit.

The EV weighs approximately 4,982 pounds, reflecting the challenges of integrating a large battery pack while maintaining Ferrari-level performance targets. Front electric motors reportedly spin up to 30,000 rpm, while the rear motors reach 25,500 rpm.

The launch represents a pivotal moment for Ferrari as global emissions regulations and shifting consumer preferences continue pushing even ultra-luxury performance brands toward electrification.

Unlike many mainstream EV launches centered around affordability or efficiency, Ferrari appears to be positioning the Luce as a technological halo vehicle designed to preserve the brand’s exclusivity while proving that high-end electric cars can still deliver the emotion and character traditionally associated with Italian supercars.
