Despite 1,000+ horsepower and a top speed of 310 km/h, the Elettrica is slower than Tesla’s years-old Model S Plaid.

Ferrari has officially announced details of the long-awaited Elettrica, its first all-electric supercarm revealing a blend of extreme performance, handcrafted engineering, and unexpected restraint.
Despite 1,000+ horsepower and a top speed of 310 km/h, the Elettrica is slower than Tesla’s years-old Model S Plaid and falls short of new speed metrics set by BYD, Xiaomi, and Lucid. Still, Ferrari insists it’s redefining electric performance on its own terms.
Developed with 60 proprietary patents, the Ferrari Elettrica marks the brand’s most ambitious EV project yet. The four-door GT delivers 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h, with over 530 km of range. At 2,300 kg, it’s also the heaviest Ferrari ever built but it’s also one that promises unmistakable Ferrari handling thanks to an 80 mm lower center of gravity.
The car features four independent electric motors producing over 1,000 hp, active suspension derived from the Purosangue, and a record energy-dense 122 kWh battery pack designed in-house, according to CarUp. Instead of using artificial engine noise, Ferrari amplifies real powertrain vibrations “like an electric guitar,” aiming to deliver a uniquely authentic electric sound.
“The sound – a distinctive feature of every Ferrari – has been developed to highlight the unique characteristics of the electric powertrain. A high-precision sensor captures the mechanical vibrations in the powertrain components, which are amplified to offer an authentic sound experience that reflects the dynamic driving experience and gives the driver direct audio feedback,” the supercar maker stated.

While the Elettrica pushes boundaries in engineering, Ferrari’s announcement landed alongside sobering financial news. CEO Benedetto Vigna told investors the company targets 6% growth through 2030, lower than analysts expected, causing shares to drop 14% on the Milan exchange.
Despite that, Ferrari maintains confidence that its EV strategy will appeal to loyalists seeking exclusivity and craftsmanship over raw numbers. The Elettrica, built with 75% recycled aluminum and in-house innovation from Formula 1–derived KERS technology, is positioned as the future face of Italian performance, even if others are faster on paper.
