ElectricFish Received A $1.69 Million Grant From The California Energy Commission To Support Its Project

ElectricFish has opened a new production plant for electric vehicle (EV) charging and corporate headquarters in San Carlos, California. The plant will produce ElectricFish’s flagship 350Squared offerings, an advanced system for high-speed EV charging complemented with on-site energy storage and backup power.
With support from $1.69 million in grants from the California Energy Commission (CEC), ElectricFish’s new plant will allow it to rapidly scale production of its innovative grid-edge charging infrastructure. Furthermore, the 350Squared opens DC fast charging capabilities in areas with constrained utility power while also providing resilient backup energy.
David Hochschild, Chair of the California Energy Commission (CEC), expressed enthusiasm about the components that ElectricFish will bring stating, “California has some of the country’s most ambitious goals for electrifying transportation and providing resilient infrastructure to support historically disadvantaged communities. ElectricFish’s innovative products will help California meet its bold clean transportation goals while creating new manufacturing jobs in California.”

Moreover, ElectricFish’s patented technology integrates smart load optimization, on-site solar integration, and energy storage to cut down strain on electricity grids. As a result, this allows ultra-fast EV charging to be deployed fast at sites including fleet depots, national parks, military bases, and other locations that formerly lacked power capacity.
Furthermore, the ElectricFish system’s intelligent software maximizes renewable power usage while avoiding peak energy costs. Notably, it can even generate revenue by partaking in utility demand response programs. ElectricFish’s capabilities so far have been showcased and completed in pilot projects including the National Park Service, LADWP, and many others.
California State Senator Josh Becker expressed the arriving presence that ElectricFish will benefit California stating, “ElectricFish is tackling the need for more high-speed EV charging and doing it in a way that is easier on the grid and can be deployed faster, while also creating new manufacturing jobs right here on the Peninsula in one of the industries of the future. We need a lot more innovators like ElectricFish in the fight against climate change.”

In regards to future plans, ElectricFish is aiming to triple its workforce by April 2025 by employing engineers, electricians, technicians, and other positions. In addition to the CEC grants, the company has raised funding from the Department of Energy, Caltech, the Michigan Mobility Fund, Oxford University, and others.
As EVs go mainstream, ElectricFish’s made-in-America EV charging solutions will play a vital role in building out robust charging networks starting with California without overtaxing aging power grids. As its new intelligent grid EV infrastructure production plant opens, the EV market’s growing demand will be met.
