General Motors is recalling certain 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL electric SUVs because a manufacturing defect inside the high-voltage battery pack could increase the risk of a fire.
The recall also includes select 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV models equipped with the same battery design, though only a handful of Escalade IQ vehicles are affected.
According to GM, an internal component within the high-voltage battery module may not have been properly secured during assembly.
If the component shifts inside the battery pack, it could damage internal battery components over time, increasing the risk of a fire whether the vehicle is parked or being driven, according to GM Authority.
Because the issue originates inside the sealed battery pack, owners are unlikely to notice warning signs before the defect causes damage.
The recall applies to certain 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL models. GM’s dealer bulletin identifies two affected Escalade IQ vehicles and three Escalade IQL vehicles.

To address the issue, GM will replace the complete high-voltage battery pack in affected vehicles at no cost to owners.
The automaker has also instructed dealers to stop the sale, lease, demonstration, or transfer of affected inventory until repairs have been completed. Replacement work must be performed by technicians who have completed GM’s required EV service training.
Owners who have already taken delivery of an affected vehicle should wait for an official recall notification from GM before contacting their Cadillac dealer to schedule the battery replacement.
The recall is identified under GM safety recall number N262562600.
