BYD has marked two years of remarkable growth in Europe with a strong showing at the Paris Motor Show, highlighting its commitment to the European electric vehicle (EV) market with an expanded product line-up and the debut of its new SEALION 7 SUV.

The star of BYD’s presentation was undoubtedly the SEALION 7, a mid-size pure-electric SUV designed specifically for European customers. This latest addition to BYD’s Ocean Series combines performance, practicality, and dynamic design.

According to BYD, the SEALION 7 arrives with impressive specifications, including rapid acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds and advanced charging speeds of up to 230kW. It features BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery and Cell-to-Body (CTB) construction, showcasing the company’s technological prowess.

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, expressed confidence in the SEALION 7’s appeal, citing its mix of SUV design, advanced technology, and performance as key factors that will attract European customers. Despite its coupe-style roofline, the SEALION 7 offers generous headroom and cabin space, a feature that BYD believes will resonate with European buyers.

Expanded European Line-Up

In just two years since entering the European market, BYD has more than doubled its product offering. The company now has eight models available in Europe, including the SEALION 7, DOLPHIN, and SEAL U DM-I. The Paris Motor Show also saw the French debut of BYD’s luxury YANGWANG brand, featuring the U8 SUV. Additionally, BYD introduced the SEAL U DM-I, its first European plug-in hybrid model, boasting an impressive range of up to 1,080km.

Michael Shu, BYD’s European Managing Director, highlighted the rapid pace of expansion, stating, “Now, just two years later, we have eight models to offer.” This growth is part of BYD’s broader commitment to the European market, which includes plans to establish two local production facilities within the EU.

Commitment to European Growth

BYD’s commitment to Europe extends beyond its product range. The company continues to focus on sustainable technologies and innovations in energy use, acquisition, and storage. Globally, BYD employs over 900,000 staff, including more than 100,000 engineers dedicated to research and development. This substantial workforce has contributed to BYD’s recent milestone of producing its nine millionth new-energy vehicle.

The SEALION 7 is set to launch in France this October, with first deliveries expected before the end of the year. While pricing details are yet to be announced, they are anticipated “in the near future.” As BYD continues its global expansion, the company’s strong presence at the Paris Motor Show underscores its determination to become a major player in the European automotive market.

BYD’s showcase at the Paris Motor Show demonstrates not only its growing product line but also its adaptability to European tastes and requirements. As the automotive landscape continues its shift towards electrification, BYD’s rapid expansion and technological innovations position it as a formidable competitor in the European market.
