BYD is also preparing to launch its largest over-the-air software update for its smart driving system.

BYD has surpassed 1 million cumulative deliveries of its Smart Driving Edition vehicles, according to a new update shared by the automaker on July 6 via Weibo. The company is also preparing to launch its largest over-the-air (OTA) software update for its smart driving system, dubbed “God’s Eye,” as it continues prioritizing software innovation alongside hardware advancements.
BYD introduced its Smart Driving Editions on February 10 for 21 models, including the budget-friendly Seagull priced at RMB 69,800 ($9,730). These models feature the company’s proprietary “God’s Eye” driving system, which is divided into three levels.
These levels are God’s Eye A (DiPilot 600), which features three LiDARs and is used in BYD’s Yangwang luxury vehicles; God’s Eye B (DiPilot 300), which features one or two LiDARs and is used for the Denza brand and high-end BYD models; and God’s Eye C (DiPilot 100), which features a camera-based visual system and is used for lower-priced BYD models, according to a CNEV Post report.

Since the rollout, Smart Driving Editions have become BYD’s primary offering, while older non-smart variants are being discounted to clear inventory. The upcoming OTA update, expected to be the most extensive yet, will enhance safety and intelligence across BYD’s lineup, though exact release details remain undisclosed.
BYD continues its strong performance in the NEV space. The automaker sold 382,585 new energy vehicles in June, the highest monthly total this year. In the first half of 2025, BYD delivered 2,145,954 NEVs, marking a 33.04% year-on-year increase.
