With BYD making massive progress with its electric vehicles (EVs), the company has reported record-breaking sales for July 2024 with a total of 342,383 new energy vehicles (NEVs) sold last month.

As for BYD’s performance for June 2024, the company sold a record of 341,658 NEVs in June. In comparison to July 2024, this marks a 30% increase year-over-year and exceeds its previous month’s record.

However, the sales figures reveal a mixed performance across BYD’s product lineup. While overall NEV sales reached new heights, the company saw a slight dip in its battery electric vehicles (BEVs). In detail, BYD sold 130,000 passenger BEVs in July, representing a 3.55% decrease compared to the same period last year and a 10.46% drop from June’s figures.

Although the decline in BEV sales was more than offset by the strong performance of BYD’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), where the company sold 210,799 passenger PHEVs in July, setting a new record for the fifth consecutive month. This represents a 66.87% increase year-over-year and an 8.08% rise from June.

BYD’s success extends beyond its domestic market, with overseas sales showing major growth. The company sold 30,014 units in international markets during July, up 65.19% from the previous year and 11.18% from June.

Notably, the company has sold 1,955,366 NEVs through the first seven months of 2024, a 28.83% increase compared to the same period last year. Within these sales figures, 856,153 were BEVs, which is up 13.91% year-over-year.

BYD’s Global Reach

Recently, BYD announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Uber that aims to introduce 100,000 new EVs firstly in Europe and Latin America before expanding to the Middle East, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. With BYD achieving another record, the company’s global reach is extending rapidly.

As BYD plans to further expand to other key markets including Canada despite tariff discussions, the company’s growth is still resilient even though its slight downturn in BEV sales for July 2024. With BYD’s success consistently taking it to higher positions in the global EV market, the company is well-positioned to maintain its leadership in the global NEV industry.
