The 2025 BMW M5 Touring PHEV Comes With An Acceleration From 0 To 60 mph In 3.6 Seconds And A Top Speed Of 155 mph

BMW unveiled its latest high-performance estate plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV), the 2025 M5 Touring, marking a new milestone in the company’s electric vehicle (EV) strategy that is set to launch in November 2024.
According to BMW, the M5 Touring arrives with a sophisticated hybrid powertrain that pairs a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 535 kW (717 horsepower) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. This powerful setup enables the PHEV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), extendable to 305 km/h (189 mph) with the optional M Driver’s Package.

Despite its performance credentials, the M5 Touring does not compromise on efficiency. The 18.6 kWh high-voltage battery provides an electric-only range of 61 to 67 km (38 miles to 42 miles) according to WLTP standards, with the ability to drive at speeds up to 140 km/h (87 mph) on electric power alone. The PHEV also supports AC charging at up to 11 kW.
Moreover, the M5 Touring will start at $122,675 in the United States (U.S.) market, a $2,000 premium over its sedan counterpart. Also, the PHEV tips the scales at a substantial 2,550 kg (5,530 lbs), even outweighing some EVs in BMW’s lineup.

The M5 Touring’s design displays a blend of athleticism and practicality. It features muscular wheel arches, a long roofline, and M-specific elements like large air intakes and a redesigned kidney grille. As for the interior, it comes designed in premium materials including Merino leather trim, and advanced tech features such as the BMW Curved Display and a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System.
Furthermore, the M5 Touring offers a load capacity expandable from 500 to 1,630 liters. It also comes equipped with various driver assistance systems and the latest version of BMW’s iDrive infotainment system. The PHEV will be produced at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing.

Notably, BMW projects Germany and the U.S. to be the primary markets for the M5 Touring, followed by the United Kingdom (UK), Canada, and Switzerland. This launch marks the first time an M5 Touring will be officially offered in the U.S., filling a gap in the high-performance wagon market left by competitors like Mercedes-AMG and Audi.
As BMW continues to push its EV strategy, the M5 Touring with its high price tag and considerable weight will remain to be seen how the market will respond to this powerful yet hefty PHEV offering in the global EV market.
