Bentley Motors unveiled its EXP 15 concept at Monterey Car Week, presenting a design study that offers a preview of the British luxury brand’s first fully electric vehicle.

The three-seat, three-door grand electric Bentley EXP 15 draws inspiration from the legendary 1930 Speed Six “Blue Train” coupé. The Bentley EXP 15 brings the Speed Six into the modern world with contemporary features, including a light-enabled interpretation of the luxury brand’s iconic grille and a panoramic roof with innovative entry mechanisms.

Concept design blends heritage with modern innovation

The EXP 15 measures over five meters in length, combining traditional proportions with futuristic elements. Its asymmetrical door arrangement, one on the driver’s side and twin coach doors on the passenger’s side, enhances usability. One seat swivels outward for easier access as well.

According to The Driven, interior details seamlessly merge digital and physical controls, utilizing artisanal and sustainable materials, including 100% wool textiles. However, much of the design remains conceptual, existing only in digital form.

“The visitors at Monterey Car Week include some of the most discerning collectors, enthusiasts, and aficionados in the world, many of whom already own Bentleys.

“EXP 15 is a strong statement of intent, and it was outstanding to see the concept resplendent in the California sunshine. Feedback received from the audience at Pebble Beach will be used to inform the brand’s design evolution, as we continue the journey to design and develop the next generation of electrified Bentley grand tourers,” said Robin Page, Director of Design for Bentley Motors.

Design vision points to Bentley’s EV future

Bentley has framed the EXP 15 as a “vision for the future” rather than a production-ready vehicle, emphasizing five design pillars that could guide upcoming models. These include “Upright Elegance” for the profile, “Endless Bonnet Line” to highlight classic proportions, and a reimagined “Iconic Grille” for the electric era.

After debuting in California, the EXP 15 will return to Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe to continue shaping the DNA of the brand’s first electric car, expected later this decade.
