Audi Debuts Q6L E-Tron And AUDI E Concept, Expanding In China With FAW, SAIC, And New Models For 2025.

Audi has showcased its expanded electric vehicle (EV) lineup at Auto Guangzhou, highlighting the German automaker’s strengthened commitment to the Chinese market through partnerships with both FAW and SAIC Motor.

The centerpiece of Audi’s presentation is the Q6L e-tron, the company’s first locally produced vehicle based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). Set to begin production in late December at the new Audi FAW NEV Company plant in Changchun, the Q6L e-tron features a longer wheelbase than its international counterpart and includes numerous China-specific design elements and digital innovations.

Audi also introduced its new sister brand “AUDI” (written in capital letters) through the AUDI E concept, developed in collaboration with SAIC. The 4.87-meter Sportback concept showcases impressive specifications with 570 kW of power from dual electric motors and quattro all-wheel drive. Notably, the concept foregoes Audi’s traditional four-rings logo in favor of the AUDI lettering, signaling a distinct brand identity for the Chinese market.

“Our positioning in China is a key field of action of our ‘Audi Agenda,'” stated Audi CEO Gernot Döllner. “Our goal is to continue to play a leading role in the premium market in China.” The company plans to launch three production models under the AUDI brand with SAIC starting in 2025.

Audi China President Johannes Roscheck expressed the significance of the company’s dual-partner strategy stating, “Together with our joint venture partners, we have prepared an exceptional model lineup. This proves that our two-partner strategy is progressing as planned and is enabling us to reinforce our commitment to ‘Vorsprung durch Technik.'”
After 36 years in the Chinese market, Audi’s latest initiatives demonstrate its commitment to maintaining its premium market position through localized production and market-specific innovations.
With the latest EV unveilings, the presentations at Auto Guangzhou underscore China’s importance as both Audi’s largest single market and the region where the transformation to electric mobility and digitization is advancing most rapidly.
