Audi has revealed its latest electric vehicle (EV) addition to the Q4 e-tron series, the Q4 35 e-tron, starting at €45,600 ($49,680) for the standard model and €47,600 ($51,86) for the Sportback trim.

The introduction of the Q4 35 e-tron marks Audi’s return to offering a smaller battery option in the Q4 e-tron lineup, a trim that was temporarily removed in October 2022 due to semiconductor shortages. Now, its comeback signals more options for potential buyers looking to purchase an entry-level Audi EV.

According to Audi, the Q4 35 e-tron is powered by a 55 kWh battery. It delivers a range of up to 355 km (220 miles) for the compact SUV and 365 km (226 miles) for the Sportback model. The electric motor delivers 125 kW (170 horsepower) of power, enabling the EV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 9 seconds with a top speed of 160 km/h (99 mph).

One of the standout features of the new 4 35 e-tron is its charging capabilities. Due to its improved cell chemistry, the Q4 35 e-tron can charge from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes using DC fast charging with a maximum charging power of 145 kW. This allows EV owners to add up to 130 km (81 miles) of range in 10 minutes under optimal conditions.

Interestingly, Audi also introduced an integrated app store in the Q4 e-tron series, a first for the brand. This feature allows users to access third-party apps including Spotify and Audible directly through the EV’s infotainment system.

Moreover, the Q4 35 e-tron comes with an array of standard equipment including Audi MMI navigation plus, Audi Connect navigation and infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, heated front seats, and an electric boot lid with foot gesture control.

It should be noted that Audi has integrated ChatGPT into the online voice input system of all Q4 e-tron models. This advanced voice control system, powered by Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service and Cerence Inc.’s Chat Pro solution, allows the driver to control various vehicle functions and ask general questions using natural language.

Oliver Hoffmann, Audi Board Member for Technical Development, expressed enthusiasm for the Q4 35 e-tron return stating, “With the Q4 35 e-tron, we’re making it easier for customers to enter the all-electric premium compact segment. This model combines our commitment to sustainable mobility with the luxury and performance Audi is known for, all at an attractive price point.”

With Audi expanding its EV lineup despite considerations of its Brussel’s plant facing closure, the company is still steadfast in making strides in the EV market with a new strategy to bring back a versatile and attractive price option for potential buyers. The Audi Q4 35 e-tron and Q4 Sportback 35 e-tron will be available to order starting in July 2024.
