General Motors has confirmed the official EPA-rated driving range for the 2027 Chevy Bolt, and it’s better than previously expected. The updated all-electric hatchback is now rated for up to 262 miles on a single charge, exceeding earlier estimates and reinforcing the Bolt’s position as one of the most affordable long-range EVs in the U.S. market.
GM said the Chevy Bolt achieves an EPA-rated range of 262 miles, an improvement over the 255-mile estimate shared when the model was initially unveiled in October 2025. The new figure also edges out the outgoing Bolt EV’s 259-mile rating and comfortably surpasses the Bolt EUV’s 247 miles.
The 2027 Bolt is arriving at dealerships now, giving GM a timely entry in the value-focused EV segment as competition intensifies. Pricing starts at $28,995 for the LT trim and $32,995 for the RS, including destination charges, making the Bolt one of the least expensive new electric vehicles currently available in the U.S., according to GM Authority.
Under the hood, the Bolt shares its electric motor with the Chevy Equinox EV, producing 210 horsepower. Energy comes from a 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, a chemistry choice aimed at balancing durability, cost, and long-term usability.

Beyond range, GM leaned heavily into technology and usability updates for the 2027 Bolt. Buyers can opt for the Super Cruise package, which enables hands-free driving on compatible highways. Additional technology packages bundle upgraded driver-assistance features, connectivity enhancements, and charging solutions, including GM’s PowerUp NACS charger.
Styling updates draw inspiration from the Bolt EUV, giving the hatchback a more modern exterior. Inside, GM overhauled the cabin with improved materials, updated displays, and a cleaner layout focused on day-to-day usability. Customization options include bold exterior colors like Atomic Yellow and Relic Green Metallic, along with features such as a dual-panel sunroof and illuminated charge port.
Production of the 2027 Bolt takes place at GM’s Fairfax Assembly Plant, underscoring the company’s push to localize EV manufacturing. With higher-than-expected range, competitive pricing, and a strong tech feature set, the revived Bolt is shaping up to be a key pillar in GM’s mass-market EV strategy.
