Jeep is bringing the new Compass electric SUV to Europe, built for everyday comfort and capable enough for off-road getaways.

Jeep has officially unveiled the all-new generation of its Compass compact crossover, and for the first time, it will be available as a fully electric vehicle alongside plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid powertrains in the European market. The top-spec electric variant boasts 375 horsepower and all-wheel drive, with a front-wheel-drive option also available.

Jeep continues to follow the strong shift toward electric SUVs. The 2026 Jeep Compass caters to various preferences with its diverse powertrain lineup for Europe. The most potent option is the dual-motor electric Compass, delivering a combined output of 375 horsepower. Stellantis highlights that the 65 horsepower rear motor was specifically engineered for Jeep, enabling the EV to ascend 20% inclines even when the front wheels lack traction.
For those seeking a front-wheel-drive electric option, a 213-horsepower variant will also be available. Additionally, a 195-horsepower plug-in hybrid model with all-wheel drive will be offered, although details regarding its internal combustion engine remain undisclosed. The lineup also includes a mild-hybrid gasoline version with an unspecified engine. Notably, Jeep has decided against offering a diesel engine for the new Compass in Europe.
The front-wheel-drive electric Jeep Compass is equipped with a 74-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Jeep claims a maximum estimated driving range of 404 miles (650 kilometers) on the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure) cycle for the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive model, although the exact battery capacity for this version has not been specified.
Charging the electric Compass supports DC fast charging at up to 160 kilowatts, allowing for a 20% to 80% state-of-charge replenishment in approximately 30 minutes. It also supports AC charging at up to 22 kW.
While the specs look promising, the electric Compass won’t be landing in the U.S. anytime soon. Still, that’s not a major drawback, there are plenty of strong alternatives available. Take the Equinox EV from Chevrolet, for example, which delivers a solid 319 miles of EPA-estimated range and starts at just $33,600.
The two-wheel-drive versions of the new Compass offer a ground clearance of 7.9 inches and can navigate water up to 18.5 inches deep. They feature an approach angle of 20 degrees, a breakover angle of 15 degrees, and a departure angle of 26 degrees.
The all-wheel-drive models receive a 10-millimeter suspension lift and utilize scratch-resistant bumpers with slightly different designs, enhancing their off-road prowess. These AWD versions boast improved approach (27 degrees), breakover (16 degrees), and departure (31 degrees) angles, which Jeep claims are the best in the European C SUV segment. All Compass models come standard with Jeep’s Selec-terrain traction control system, while AWD variants also include hill descent control.

Inside, all models feature an expansive 16-inch central touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster as standard. A physical row of buttons is located below the central screen for easy access to infotainment and climate controls. The increased dimensions have resulted in an additional 2.2 inches of rear legroom and a larger cargo compartment, offering 19.4 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seats. Notably, EV versions do not include a front trunk.
Sales of the all-new Jeep Compass have already commenced in Europe, with orders being taken for First Edition models assembled in Melfi, Italy. European deliveries are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of this year. While the European market is the initial focus, the American version is expected to arrive next year, likely as a 2027 model year vehicle, potentially sourced from the Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada, although the future of that plant is currently under review.
