Kia unveiled the 2025 EV6 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, introducing significant upgrades to its award-winning electric vehicle (EV) with larger battery packs, increased range, enhanced performance, and notably, will be manufactured in the United States (U.S.).
The most substantial changes come under the hood, where Kia has upgraded both available battery options. The standard battery pack grows from 63.0 kWh to 68.0 kWh, while the larger pack increases from 77.4 kWh to 84.0 kWh.
With the bigger battery, Kia is targeting an impressive EPA range of 319 miles for single-motor rear-wheel-drive configurations in the Light Long Range, Wind, and GT-Line models—a notable improvement over the current model’s 303-mile range.
Performance enthusiasts will be pleased to learn that the sporty EV6 GT receives a power boost, now hitting 601 horsepower, up from 576 horsepower in the previous model. When engaging the standard GT mode, drivers can access even more power—a temporary boost to 641 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque.
The rest of the lineup maintains familiar power figures, with rear-wheel-drive models producing 167 horsepower with the smaller battery and 225 hp with the larger pack. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant continues to deliver 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque.
Moreover, the 2025 EV6 adopts the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, enabling access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. The charging port has been relocated to the left rear fender on all models except the GT, though Kia has not yet detailed charging speeds at Supercharger stations or whether CCS adapters will be provided.
Visually, the EV6 receives subtle but meaningful updates to align with Kia’s current design language. New headlights featuring the company’s signature Star Map lighting create a more dynamic appearance, while the rear end sports updated taillights and a redesigned bumper. The interior benefits from a horizontal design theme, featuring a standard curved dual 12.3-inch display that combines the instrument cluster and center screen.
Technology upgrades include Kia’s next-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system, enabling over-the-air updates and digital key functionality. The new system supports video and music streaming, gaming, and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities through the Kia Connect Store. Standard features now include automatically-deploying flush door handles across all trim levels.
Notably, the 2025 EV6 (excluding the GT model) will be produced at Kia’s West Point, Georgia plant, alongside the recently launched EV9. This shift to U.S. production could have implications for federal tax credit eligibility, though like the U.S.-built EV9, the EV6 may only qualify for half the full amount ($3,750) due to battery sourcing requirements.
“We are incredibly proud of the success the EV6 has achieved since its launch,” stated Steven Center, COO and EVP of Kia America. “The EV6 represents Kia’s forward-thinking approach to electrification, and with this refreshed model, we are excited to build on that success by offering even more style, technology, and features that our customers will love.”
The refreshed EV6 will be available in multiple trim levels: Light (RWD only), Light Long Range (RWD or e-AWD), Wind (RWD or e-AWD), GT-Line (RWD or e-AWD), and GT (e-AWD). Sales are projected to start in the first half of 2025, with pricing details to be announced closer to the launch date.
