Tesla has now made new price changes again to its Full Self-Driving (FSD) program in its electric vehicle (EV) models, now it is priced at $8,000. Previously, the price was placed from $12,000 to $8,000.
The price comes from Tesla taking its FSD program out of its beta stage and into its “Supervised” stage. The company is also cutting the price of the FSD program Tesla has once again lowered the price of its Full Self-Driving software by $4,000, now at $8,000, originally at $12,000 in the United States (U.S.) market.
As of recently, Tesla has been making major shifts in its strategy to promote its FSD program and self-driving technology. One of which is the recent announcement of its robotaxis, scheduled to debut on August 8. CEO Elon Musk’s bet on enhancing its robotaxis comes with the price of making its FSD program more appealing, especially with price.
In addition, Tesla’s FSD program has also gone through a price cut on its monthly subscription fee from $199 to $99 a month. The result of this pricing strategy for its monthly subscription follows the same, which is to attract more buyers to embrace its FSD program. Furthermore, if you are an owner who already possesses the enhanced autopilot, you can upgrade to the FSD program for $2,000, which was previously priced at $6,000.
Through all these price cuts, Tesla is pushing further on the value of its FSD program along with increasing revenue with its self-driving technology. As the “Supervised” stage of its FSD program is actually still at a “Level 2” system of autonomous driving, the company is still headstrong to further invest in its FSD program’s capabilities. With Tesla experiencing new shifts in its pricing strategy for its FSD program, the advancement of autonomous technology for self-driving will be determined as it evolves further in the EV market.
