In the United States (U.S.) market, Stellantis is now offering new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) buyers a choice between a complimentary at-home charging station or $600 in public charging credits through its Free2move Charge program.

To support Stellatis’ initiative, the company has launched the Free2move Charge website and app to guide buyers through the EV buying process and familiarize them with charging options. The app also provides access to over 75,000 charging ports across the U.S., with plans to expand charging infrastructure through 2024.

Furthermore, buyers who opt for the home charging station will receive a Level 2 charging unit valued at around $600. The installation process is facilitated through a partnership with Qmerit, allowing for easy setup and configuration.

Alternatively, buyers who prefer public charging can choose $600 in credits usable at various charging networks including ChargePoint, Shell Recharge, and EVgo. Notably, the Free2move Charge app simplifies finding, activating, and paying for charging on the go.

Mathilde Lheureux, head of Stellantis’ energy and charge business unit, expressed the development of this initiative stating, “We want to ensure that our customers easily understand the charging options available to them before or upon purchase.”

In addition to these immediate benefits, Stellantis is part of a joint venture called IONNA, which aims to deploy a minimum of 30,000 in-network chargers across North America, with the first stations expected to open in the U.S. in 2024.

Stellantis Upcoming EV Offerings

As a result, this initiative comes as Stellantis prepares to introduce several new all-electric models to the U.S. market including the 2024 Fiat 500e, 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona, 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S, 2025 Jeep Recon, and 2025 Ram 1500 REV.

Carlos Zarlenga, COO of Stellantis, expressed the company’s goal of electrification stating, “Electrification is a game changer. Our customers will see efficiency gains and incredible performance advancements, including technology, ride and handling, giving our brands greater capabilities.”

As the U.S. EV market sees more of Stellantis’ presence through its expanding electrification plans, the company’s new initiatives and incentives will contribute to making EV ownership more accessible and convenient for American EV owners.
