Skywell Delivers 3.9-Second Acceleration, High-Tech Features, And Advanced Safety As It Prepares For UK Launch In 2025

Skywell has made a bold entrance into the European electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of its new ‘Q’ hatchback at the Paris Motor Show 2024, named specifically as Skyworth Q in Europe and Skywell Q in the United Kingdom (UK).
According to Skyworth, the Q is packed with impressive specifications, making it a strong contender in the EV market. It offers two battery options, with the larger version providing a range of over 300 miles. Powered by a front-mounted 201 bhp (204 hp) electric motor, the Q accelerates from 0 to 62mph in just 3.9 seconds.
Moreover, it also supports fast charging, allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes. If these performance claims hold up, the Q could outperform many of its competitors, including the more powerful Cupra Born VZ.
In terms of design, the Q positions itself as a rival to popular models like the Volkswagen ID.3 and Kia EV3 in the ‘Class C’ family car segment. It measures 4,297mm in length, 1,836mm in width, and 1,536mm in height. Its exterior features include dynamic LED front lightbars, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a sporty design influenced by Skywell’s ‘Skyhome’ concept. Some models will also come with a large “Skyroof,” enhancing the overall driving experience.

For the interior, the Q is focused on high-tech features and comfort. The interior contains a 15.6-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, touchscreen displays for rear-seat passengers, wireless smartphone connectivity, and an 8-speaker Metz sound system engineered in Germany. Additional touches like 128-color ambient lighting and composite fiber panelling add to the premium feel.
The Q comes equipped with an extensive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), including Intelligent Cruise Assist (ICA), Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA), and a 360-degree panoramic parking camera.
Skywell is backing the Q with generous warranty terms, offering a 7-year, 100,000-mile general warranty and an 8-year, 155,000-mile battery warranty, as it prepares for a UK launch.
The Skywell Q is expected to launch in the UK in Q3 2025, following the introduction of Skywell’s first UK model, the BE11 electric SUV, set for release in November 2024. While exact pricing details haven’t been announced, it’s expected to be competitively priced, potentially starting around £30,000.

The launch of the Q marks an interesting development in the EV market. While Skywell may be better known for producing televisions, it’s following in the footsteps of other successful Chinese brands that have transitioned into the automotive sector, such as BYD and Geely.
As the EV market continues to grow and evolve, the entry of new players like Skywell could bring increased competition and innovation, potentially benefiting consumers with more choices and competitive pricing in the EV landscape.
