Nissan Unveils The Arc With 16 New EV Models To Launch

Nissan Plans to Reach 1 Million Units From Its Annual Sales by The End of 2026

Nissan has released its ambitious new business plan, The Arc focused on driving value and enhancing competitiveness while paving the way for Nissan Ambition 2030, the company’s long-term vision. The plan, set to bridge the gap between the Nissan NEXT business transformation plan and Ambition 2030, with one of them including advancing electrification.

Nissan President and Chief Executive Officer Makoto Uchida emphasized the significance of The Arc plan in navigating changing market conditions and ensuring sustainable growth and profitability. The plan aims to increase annual sales by 1 million units and achieve an operating profit margin of over 6% by the end of fiscal year 2026. This will be achieved through a tailored regional strategy, an accelerated transition to electric vehicles (EVs), and a balanced product portfolio.

New Models

The plan includes launching 30 new models by fiscal year 2026, with 16 of them being electrified. By fiscal year 2026, Nissan aims for 40% of its global model mix to be electrified, rising to 60% by the end of the decade. The company also plans to refresh 60% of its internal combustion engine (ICE) passenger vehicle models by fiscal year 2026, ensuring a balanced approach to electrification.

Plans for the U.S. Market

For the American market, the company plans to bolster its presence by targeting a significant increase in sales by 330,000 units compared to fiscal year 2023. As part of this strategy, the company will invest $200 million USD in enhancing the integrated customer experience in the United States. Additionally, Nissan is set to introduce 7 all-new models in the U.S. and Canada, while refreshing a staggering 78% of its passenger vehicle lineup for the Nissan brand including its plans to debut e-POWER in the U.S., showing a commitment to expanding its electrified vehicle offerings in the region.

New Technologies

Nissan is spearheading advancements in its technologies aiming to expedite the evolution of cutting-edge features. Among them is the next-generation ProPILOT driver-assistance system, designed to enable door-to-door autonomous driving capabilities, seamlessly transitioning from on-highway to off-highway routes, private premises, and parking areas. Nissan also plans to introduce new EV tech, including NCM li-ion, LFP, and all-solid-state batteries for a vast range of uses.

Further Plans for EV

Nissan’s EV competitiveness will be enhanced through significant cost reductions, aiming to achieve cost parity between EVs and ICE models by fiscal year 2030. The plan also includes new development and manufacturing approaches to make EVs more affordable and profitable. Strategic partnerships will be expanded into technology, product portfolio, and software services, while financial discipline will be maintained to deliver resilient, profitable performance.

Uchida expressed confidence in Nissan’s ability to carry out The Arc plan with ease, providing a solid foundation for realizing the Nissan Ambition 2030 vision. The company plans to secure a total shareholder return of more than 30% and unlock a potential 2.5 trillion yen in additional revenues by fiscal year 2030.
