Nissan Launches 2025 LEAF With The Same Starting Price At $28,140

Nissan has officially released the 2025 LEAF electric vehicle (EV) model with an affordable starting price of $28,140. Notably, the starting price is the same price point as its predecessor.

The new 2025 Nissan LEAF model will feature two trim options the LEAF S priced at $28,140 comes equipped with a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery and an EPA-estimated range of up to 149 miles. As for the LEAF SV PLUS, it is priced at $36,190 and arrives with a larger 60-kWh battery while delivering an estimated range of up to 212 miles. As for charging, the LEAF S can reach 80% in 40 minutes and the LEAF SV PLUS can reach 80% in 60 minutes using the Quick Charge Port.

In addition, all 2025 Nissan LEAF models possess the Nissan Safety Shield® 360 feature with an array of standard safety technologies including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. On the other hand, the LEAF SV PLUS model includes ProPILOT Assist and Intelligent Around View Monitor.

Regarding its design features, there are only a few changes with refreshed exterior elements of a restyled front grille, bumper molding, and headlights. As for the interior, it seats up to five passengers with up to 30 cubic feet of cargo space. Interior technological features include NissanConnect infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android AutoTM, and SiriusXM.

Furthermore, the 2025 LEAF introduces EV Carefree+, which is a comprehensive ownership package made to provide EV owners with convenient and scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, EV Battery Health Assurance, and 36-month/36,000-mile emergency EV Roadside Assistance.

With these features offered in the 2025 Nissan LEAF, the only stand-out component is still its attractive price point as there are no noticeable innovative additions or changes added. This certainly questions its competitive qualities in the EV market as its affordable price point only remains.

Yet, its predecessor, the 2024 Nissan LEAF possesses the same price point but with eligibility of $3,750 from the federal EV tax credit. As of now, the 2025 Nissan LEAF does not qualify for the federal EV tax credit yet, where Nissan’s press release states, “At this time, the 2025 Nissan LEAF is not eligible for the Federal EV tax credit under Internal Revenue Code Section 30D based on final regulations released by the Internal Revenue Service on May 3, 2024.”

While the LEAF remains a compelling option for accessible entry into the EV market for potential buyers, the evolving EV market with more automakers prioritizing affordability in its upcoming EVs brings this EV release to further examination of its viability. Nevertheless, as Nissan plans to launch 16 EV models by fiscal year 2026, the 2025 LEAF still serves as the company’s dedication to bringing affordable EVs into its lineup.
