MG’s New Hardtop EV Coupe Comes In Dual-Motor Power And 2+2 Seating Configuration
As many automakers unveil their innovative electric vehicle (EV) model at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, MG Motors turned heads with the global debut of its latest concept electric vehicle (EV), the Cyber GTS.
British automaker MG now owned by China’s SAIC Motor unveiled its Cyber GTS as a hardtop variant of MG’s Cyberster electric roadster, which comes in both single-motor and dual-motor trims, with the dual-motor variant delivering up to 400 kW of power and an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds.
Unlike its two-seat Cyberster sibling, the Cyber GTS in coupe form offers a 2+2 seating configuration, where Jozef Kaban, MG’s new head of design, stated to the media at a pre-reveal event on July 9, saying “It opens up the car to more customers who maybe want that practicality and that extra space.”
As for the design, the Cyber GTS takes inspiration from the MGC GTS Sebring while also containing modern design elements with its low-riding profile, aggressive wheel arches, and wide build. As of now, official specs remain undisclosed to the public.
With MG utilizing the Goodwood Festival to measure public reaction before making a final production decision, the Cyber GTS could hit the market as soon as 2025, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the MGB GT if approved.
As MG reveals its Cyber GTS to the public, it represents a bold vision for the future of sports EVs. Whether the Cyber GTS hits the EV market, it will depend on the public feedback from visitors of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the EV market.
